2025 BetMGM Premier League in Cardiffの動画がアップされていました。今回ピックアップしたのはGerwyn Price vs Rob CrossのQuarter Finalのワンシーンです。
First to 6のフォーマットでお互い5レグずつ取っており、この試合の最後の瞬間から動画をスタートさせています。まずGerwynのフィニッシュトライがスタート。115を残したこの状況で狙うはT19→S18→D20でしたが一投目はS19に入ってしまいました。この時点でT20→D18のルートしかフィニッシュできないですが2投目をしっかりT20に入れたものの肝心の3投目は少し外に外れてアウトボードしてしまいます。
続くRobのターンは170を残した状況からスタートです。ものすごいブーイングの中（Cardiff（ウェールズ）での試合なので、母国出身のGerwynの応援が多いのは当然ですよね）でT20を連続して決め、いつも通りちょっと待を置いて投げた3投目はしっかりインナーブルを捉えてゲームセット！！どっちが勝っても本当におかしくない接戦だったと思います。今年のRobはこういうプレッシャーのかかるシーンでのスローを沢山決めている印象がありますね。調子が良いのでしょうか。試合後のIcemanの表情は「それをやられちゃ負けても仕方ない」といったものだったのでしょうか。
ところでRobの3投目の前にGerwynの表情が一瞬映り何かをつぶやいていましたが、英語の読唇術ができる人がいたらぜひ何と言っていたか教えてもらいたいものです。

It was a First to 6 format, and both players had won 5 legs each. The video starts at the very last moment of the match.
Gerwyn steps up first for a 115 finish, aiming for T19 → S18 → D20. However, his first dart lands in S19. That leaves only one possible route: T20 → D18. He hits the T20 cleanly with his second dart, but unfortunately, his third dart misses wide and lands in the outer board.
Now it’s Rob’s turn, sitting on 170. As expected, he’s greeted by loud booing from the crowd—understandable, as this is Cardiff, Wales, and the crowd is mostly rooting for hometown hero Gerwyn Price.
Rob coolly lands back-to-back T20s, and after a short pause (as he often does), his third dart hits the Inner Bull dead center—game over!
It was the kind of tight match that could’ve gone either way, and Rob’s ability to deliver under pressure is something we’ve seen consistently from him this year. He really seems to be in top form.
Gerwyn’s expression after the match seemed to say,
“Well, if he hits that, there’s nothing I can do.”
By the way, just before Rob’s third dart, the camera briefly caught Gerwyn muttering something—if anyone out there can read lips in English, I’d love to know what he said!
